Gillian Anderson is set to perform in the West End in a new production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Anderson is a highly acclaimed actress. She was 2 Primetime Emmys, 2 Golden Globes, and 4 Actor Awards under her belt. Her most famous work includes The Crown, Sex Education and most recently, The Salt Path. She is no stranger to Theatre performances though. She has even been the recipient of Olivier Award Nominations on multiple occasions.

Gillian Anderson ‘s return to the West in is @sohoplace. Their new production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? from 21st September until 19th December 2026. She is starring as Martha alongside Billy Crudup as George. Also starring in the play is Josh Dylan as Nick and Phoebe Horn as Honey.

This iconic play by Edward Albee follows Martha and George, who invite a younger couple back to their home in the early hours. Over the night, the two couples engage in a series of escalating exchanges which moves towards a moment of truth.

Sonia Friedman Production is producing the show in association with Nica Burns.

Regarding todays announcement Friedman said the following:

“Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is one of the defining plays of the modern theatre – raw, ferociously funny and devastating in equal measure.

“To bring it to life with actors of the calibre of Gillian Anderson and Billy Crudup, under the direction of the extraordinary Marianne Elliott, is a thrilling prospect. Staged in the round @sohoplace. This production will place audiences right inside George and Martha’s dangerous games, in a play that remains as shocking and truthful today as when Albee first wrote it.”
