ABOUT THE THEATRE
The Apollo Victoria Theatre was officially opened in 1930, with the idea of it being a state of the art
cinema, and specifically being a venue for the burgeoning 'talking pictures' industry. Architect Ernest Walmsley Lewis designed the theatre in the popular Art Deco style of the time. Situated close to Victoria Station, the Apollo Victoria Theatre was originally called the New Victoria Cinema. After being closed down in 1975, the theatre reopened its doors again to become known by its current name. Singer Shirley Bassey was one of the stars appearing at the opening in Westminster.
