The Dominion Theatre first opened in October 1929, having been built on the old Horse Shoe Brewery location – the Brewery responsible for the London Beer Flood of 1814. The Theatre became well known in the 1980s as a popular location for music events and concerts. Various singers, including Dolly Parton, have performed at the theatre, with Dolly releasing a televised performance of her 1983 Concert from the Dominion.
The theatre has been subject to extensive renovation in recent years, with the total capacity having been increased to a total of 2,182. Having retained many of its art deco features, including the original 1920s light fittings, it has become an admired and respected theatre over the years.
The Dominion Theatre is located at 68-269 Tottenham Court Road, London, Greater London, W1T 7AQ.
