Vanessa Williams

Alright everyone, gird your lions! It has just been announced that the iconic Vanessa Williams will star as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada Musical! The new stage adaptation of the classic 2000s rom-com is set to open at the Dominion Theatre later this year.

The Devil Wears Prada Musical tickets are on sale now.

Williams is best known for starring in the smash-hit comedy series Ugly Betty where she played Wilhelmina Slater between 2006 and 2010. Quite aptly her character in Ugly Betty was the editor and chief of a fashion magazine… sound familiar? Her portrayal of this character saw her nominated at the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress 3 years in a row. She also won the Teen Choice Award for Best TV Villain in 2007. She then went on to star in the comedy series Desperate Housewives between 2010 and 2012, for which she was also nominated for her fair share of awards.

As for theatre, she made her Broadway debut in 1994 with Kiss of the Spider Woman. She starred as the witch in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods in 2002, which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. The Devil Wears Prada however will mark her West End debut.

The Devil Wears Prada Musical is based on the 2006 blockbuster film that starred Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep and the best-selling novel by Laren Weisberger. The musical includes an original score by music legend Elton John, lyrics by Shania Taub, book by Kate Wetherhead, and direction and choreography by the incredible Jerry Mitchell.

The Devil Wears Prada Musical is strutting into the West End this autumn. Opening at the Dominion Theatre on 24th October, The Devil Wears Prada tickets are available now online, over the phone, or at our box office.

Anyway, in the words of Miranda Priestly herself ‘That’s all’
