Mamma Mia! is the 6th longest-running show on the West End and is about to hit its quarter-century anniversary. On Saturday 6 April 2024 the show will celebrate 25 years on the West
End.
Mamma Mia! is the third musical in West End history to reach this milestone, following in the
footsteps of West End staples Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera.
The popular ABBA-filled musical has become a global phenomenon and has entertained over
70 million people worldwide. Mamma Mia! is the ultimate feel-good musical. With music and
lyrics by Abba’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, featuring all the magic of ABBAs
timeless hits including ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Honey Honey’, ‘Voulez Vous’ and ‘Gimme! Gimme!
Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)’. Combined with a contemporary love story from British
playwright Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia! is the perfect night out!

Following the story of the young Sophie Sheridan as she prepares for her upcoming wedding
Mamma Mia! is set on a sunny Greek island. Things become complicated when Sophie finds
her mother’s old diary and discovers she has 3 possible fathers… she then invites them all to
her wedding a chaos ensues!
Mamma Mia! first opened in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre on 6 April 1999. The
show then transferred to the Prince of Wales Theatre on 9 June 2004, where it played until
September 2012. It then moved to London’s Novello Theatre where it has continued to play
until today, only closing briefly in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It reopened in
August 2021.
The West End production of Mamma Mia! has been enjoyed by over 10 million people and
played over 9,300 performances. Mamma Mia! is a box office hit and has also been turned
into two record-breaking movies – Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
The current London cast includes Mazz Murray as Donna, Kate Graham as Tanya, Nicola-Dawn
Brook as Rosie, Haydn Oakley as Sam, Christopher Dickins as Harry, Stephen Beckett as Bill,
Stevie Doc as Sophie, Tobias Turley as Sky, Jessie Odeleye as Ali, Olivia Brookes as Lisa, Chay
Wills as Eddie and Arcangelo Ciulla as Pepper, with Natalie Langston playing Donna at certain
performances.
The cast is completed by Aaron Archer, Amy Barker, Matthew Barrow, John-Paul Birss, Daniel
J Brian, Sinéad Courtney, Izzy Cross, Ellis Dackombe, Lauren Dawes, Léa Desjacques,
Lawrence Guntert, Samantha Ivey, Jennie Jacobs, Luke Jasztal, Nicole Lupino, Flyn Mullins,
Hayley-Jo Murphy, Bradley Perret, Jacob Ritzema and Ella Tweed.
Mamma Mia! is directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. With
production design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by
Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material & arrangements
by Martin Koch.
This year to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary ITV launched the TV show I Have a Dream
where they searched for 2 young actors to take over the roles of Sophie and Sky. It was
revealed that Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley would take over and they joined the London
production in the latest cast change.
