The Rocky Horror Show is coming to the West End’s Dominion Theatre next month as part of a new world tour. The production is set to star Australian superstar Jason Donovan who reprises his iconic role as Frank-n-Furter.

Richard O’Brien’s legendary musical is a humorous tribute to various B movies associated with science fiction and horror genres from the 1930s to the early 1960s. It follows the story of a newly engaged couple who get caught in a storm and their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion. The house is the home of Dr Frank-n-Furter who is unveiling his new Frankenstein-style creation, Rocky, an artificially made physically perfect man.

The original London production of the musical premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 1973 and won the award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards that year. The original Broadway production earned itself a Tony Award nomination and three Drama Desk nominations. Since then various international productions have spanned across six continents as well as both West End and Broadway revivals and 8 UK tours. The musical was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 1991.

Rocky Horror was adapted into the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Tim Curry as Dr Frank-N-Furter, the role he originated in the original London production. The film has the longest-running release in film history and was ranked 8th in a BBC Radio 2 listener poll of the ‘Nation’s Number One Essential Musicals’.

The stage production has been performed in 20 different languages and has been seen globally by over 35 million people. This West End run is part of a new world tour. Jason Donovan is joined by BAFTA award-winning comedian Mawaan Rizwan in the role of the Narrator.

The Rocky Horror Show will run at the Dominion Theatre from 6 to 20 September. Book Rocky Horror Show tickets now online via the LSBO website or at our box office in Leicester Square
