Welcome to Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
Baz Lurhmann's revolutionary film comes to life on stage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. A theatrical celebration of truth, beauty, freedom, and - above all – love.
The musical is based on the 2001 hit film starring Nicole Kidman as Satine, the headline act at The Moulin Rouge and their ‘sparkling diamond’, and Ewan Mcgregor as Christian, a penniless writer who is enthralled by the bohemian ideals. The two young lovers are from two very different worlds but their worlds collide at Paris’ iconic Moulin Rouge!. We follow the lovers as they start a secret relationship behind the back of the evil duke who holds the deeds to The Moulin Rouge and sees if love really does conquer all.
The jukebox musical includes songs from legendary artists such as David Bowie, Elton John, The Police, and Christina Aguilera.
Iconic songs from the film have been adapted and still feature in the stage musical, such as ‘Your Song’, ‘Elephant Love Medley’, and ‘Come What May’. But the stage show has also added new mash-ups featuring contemporary music from the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyonce.
Now playing at the Piccadilly Theatre, Moulin Rouge! has become one of London’s most popular musicals in a very short space of time, playing to sold-out audiences night after night.
