Based on the true story and first-hand accounts of one of the ghost hunters, The Enfield Haunting tells the story of an ordinary working-class family from a north London council estate that became the center of one of the most famous poltergeist events in the world.
The Hodgson family had no idea what a poltergeist was until the summer of 1977 when furniture and toys started moving of their own accord in their family home. The play follows the events of one night in the spring of 1978 when the ghostly events reached a climax.
The horror play is set to star comedy icon Catherine Tate (Dr Who/ The Catherine Tate Show) as Peggy Hodgson, a single mother trying to protect her three children from the disturbing happenings. It will also star David Threlfall (Shameless) as Maurice Gross, the paranormal investigator involved with the case.
