Whats On Stage Awards

The nominees for the annual WhatsOnStage awards have just been revealed and leading the way is the Bridge Theatre’s revival of Guys & Dolls, which has received an outstanding 12 nominations.

Jamie Lloyd’s new interpretation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical Sunset Boulevard has managed to rack up 9 nominations including ‘Best Musical Revival’. The iconic musical is currently starring the sensational Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond and has been nominated for ‘Best Performer in a Musical’ for her take on the character.

The production is currently playing at the Savoy Theatre and is running until 6th January 2024 so Sunset Boulevard tickets are in high demand.

The National Theatre’s smash-hit production of Dear England recently transferred to the West End has been nominated for 10 awards including ‘Best New Play’ and Joseph Fiennes has been nominated for ‘Best Performer in a Play’ for his portrayal of Gareth Southgate.

Directed by Rupert Goold and written by James Graham, Dear England is a gripping new stage epic that tells the story of both nation and game. Currently playing at the Prince Edward Theatre, Dear England theatre tickets are available now before the show closes on 13th January next year.

Produced by Sonia Friedman and Netflix, the new play Stranger Things: The First Shadow has been put up for 8 nominations. These include ‘Best Lighting Design’, ‘Best Set Design’, Best Graphic Design’, ‘Best Sound Design’ and ‘Best Video Design’.

The award-winning production of Cabaret has been nominated for 3 awards in the ‘Best Takeover Performance’ category. Mason Alexander Park, Rebecca Lucy Taylor and Aimee Lou Wood are all among the nominees. Cabaret is currently playing at the Kit Kat Club (Playhouse Theatre) and is one of the most unique and memorable shows on the West End. The Musicals that have made it into the ‘Best New Musical’ category include The Time Traveller’s Wife, Mrs Doubtfire, Operation Mincemeat, Newsies, Little Big Things and Next to Normal which is transferring to the West End next year.

The shows nominated for ‘Best West End Show’ this year are as follows. Back to the Future the Musical at the Adelphi Theatre, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre, Moulin Rouge at the Piccadilly Theatre, The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre and Six at the Vaudeville Theatre.

The winners will be awarded at the ceremony on Sunday 11th February 2024 at the London Palladium.
