We are absolutely devastated to ‘Let It Go’ but Frozen has announced a final extension and then plans to close later this year. The Disney musical has been playing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane since Summer 2021 and is set to close its doors on 8th September 2024.
The musical is adapted from the Oscar winning animated Disney film and following on from the screenplays success Frozen has also taken the West End by storm (no pun intended).
Frozen theatre tickets are on sale now.
Frozen follows the story of Queen Elsa who can no longer control her special powers and plunges the land of Arendelle into an eternal winter. She then flees the kingdom in order to avoid causing any more damage. Her sister Anna goes on a mission to find Elsa and bring her back to save the kingdom. But is it too late? The sisters learn that only an act of true love can melt a frozen heart.
In 2022 Frozen managed to win 7 WhatsOnStage awards including ‘Best Direction’, ‘Best Choreography’, ‘Best Set Design’ and ‘Best Costume Design’. We’re not surprised after seeing that dress transformation!!
The show features all of the much-loved songs from the film such as ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’, ‘Love is an Open Door’ and the iconic ‘Let It Go’. The Oscar winning team behind the music of Frozen, Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez also wrote 12 new songs for the stage show.
The current cast of Frozen currently includes Jenna Lee-James as Elsa (Maternity cover), Laura Dawkes as Anna, Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff, Craig Sullivan as Olaf, Oliver Ormson as Hana, Richard Frame as Duke of Weselton and Mikayla Jade and Ashley Birchall as Sven. Samantha Barks is set to return to the role of Elsa on 28th January 2024 following on from her maternity leave.
