Musicals
The Lion King – The Lyceum Theatre
Age Recommendation 6 + (No Under 3s)

Why should I watch The Lion King?
- Fun for all ages!
- Beautiful Puppetry.
- An unforgettable and magical theatre experience.
Disney’s award-winning musical The Lion King is a visual spectacle. It follows the powerful story of Simba as he journeys from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands. Loosely based on Hamlet, the animated movie is brought to life by breath-taking puppetry.
This show is great for all ages as it’s a timeless and well loved story. This could be a great choice for your little ones first taste of theatre but also for the older generations as the show speaks to all. The slogan for the show “see it now, remember it forever” that was certainly my experience when I saw it as a child myself.
Back To The Future – The Adelphi Theatre
Age Recommendation 6+ (No Under 4s)

Why should I watch Back To The Future?
- Great for children of all ages (teenager approved!)
- A throwback you can share with the family

The classic 80s film sees Marty McFly sent back in time in his neighbours Delorean car. He ends up stuck in the 50s trying to get back to the future. The only way to do it? Making sure his parents fall in love. This show has toe tapping classics from the movie as well as original track. This is a great show to span across generations and the special effects are sure to wow wide-eyed children and reluctant teenagers a like!

Disney’s Hercules – The Theatre Royal Drury Lane
Age Recommendation 6+ (No Under 4s)

Why should I watch Hercules?
- The Muses.
- Epic story about bravery
- A Beloved feel-good – Disney story.
Hercules is the latest Disney animated movie to be adapted to a West End show. Just hearing these songs sang live by the incredible cast is enough of a reason to book this show. This ancient Greek classic tale is about the demi god Hercules. We follow him on his journey to step into his power and to save the world from Hades, lord of the underworld.
We currently have great economy prices for Hercules but we expect they will sell out over the half term as it will be a popular show for families. Book now to avoid disappointment.
Starlight Express – Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre
Age Recommendation: No Under 3s

Why should I watch Starlight Express?
- Incredible costume
- Visual Fast Paced Spectacle
- Iconic Songs
As a child’s train set magically comes to life and the engines race to become the fastest in the world, Rusty the steam train has little hope of winning until he is inspired by the legend of the ‘Starlight Express’. Seen around the world by over 30 million people, Starlight Express is an electrifying experience for all ages. The performers are all on rollerskates who whizz around and above the audience, performing some of musical theatres most famous songs.
We currently have discounted tickets for Starlight Express at Leicester Square Box Office!
Wicked – Apollo Victoria
Age Recommendation: 7 + No Under 5s
- Beautiful Songs and story
- A modern classic
- Recently made into a film
I’m no strange to this musical, having watched it 5 times myself. We all know the classic story of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy famously triumphed over The Wicked Witch of the West but do we know everything? We only heard one side of the story after all! Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked imagines a beguiling backstory and future possibilities to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters from ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, revealing the decisions and events that shape the destinies of two unlikely university friends on their journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
That’s our suggestions for West End Musicals for February Half Term Shows ideas, but what about plays?
Plays
The Play That Goes Wrong – The Duchess Theatre
Age recommendation 8 +

Reasons to choose this show:
- A play, not a musical.
- The longest running comedy in the West End
- Great for older kids and older generations.
This play is one of the funniest shows for easter that you could book. I recently took my own family to see it and had a blast! The action begins before the show officially does. The play is a call back to that farcical comedy of the old classic sketch shows. Everything that could go wrong, does go wrong. This flag ship production has been so successful for Mischief Theatre who created the company that have in fact had many off shoots of the same name.
Book ahead as this will be another popular show over the break.
My Neighbour Totoro – The Gillian Lynne Theatre
Age recommendation 6+ (No Under 4s).

Reasons to choose this show:
- Great for lovers of fantasy
- Coming of age story
- Innovative use of puppetry
My Neighbour Totoro is based on the much loved Studio Ghibli animated film of the same name.
The story follows two sister whos moher is sick and thus the family have relocated to the countryside. Whilst there, they meet ‘soot sprites’. Eventually they encounter more magical creatures and the ancient protector of the forest she calls “Totoro”. They soon become wrapped up in magical adventure with their new friends.
Book cheap tickets before the easter break to avoid disappointment, visit our kiosk in Leicester Square for a chance at discounted tickets.
Harry Potter And The Cursed Child – The Palace Theatre
Age recommendation 10+ (no babes in arms).

Reasons to choose this show:
- Great for a day trip.
- Good for fans of Harry Potter.
- Witness magic on stage!
Harry Potter is the most awarded play in the history of the West End. The show follows the children of the characters we know and love from the wizarding world, particularly an unlikely friendship between Harry Potter’s and Draco Malfoy’s sons.
The production in London is in 2 parts so you make a full day out of this epic theatrical experience. The show is on in many other cities across the globe but London is the only place you can experience the full show as it was originally created. You watch the first part in the afternoon and the second part in the evening.
We hope this helps you decide which shows are best for you and your family and create some unforgettable memories during these weeks off.
