Tom Holland to star in Romeo and Juliet

A new production of Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo and Juliet is set to open in Spring this year. The show is presented by the Jamie Lloyd Company, directed by Lloyd, and will star Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland as Romeo.

This iconic tale of star-crossed lovers is set to play at the Duke of York’s Theatre for a strictly limited 12-week run. This new adaptation of one of the Bard’s most famous plays is described as ‘a pulsating new vision of Shakespeare’s immortal tale of wordsmiths, rhymers, lovers and fighters’.

Jamie Lloyd is a multi-award-winning director with many brilliant works to his name. His most recent triumph was Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre with Nicole Scherzinger, which due to its phenomenal success is transferring to Broadway later this year. Other previous works include The Seagull with Emilia Clarke and Doctor Faustus with Kit Harrington.

Tom Holland is returning to the West End stage 16 years after his professional debut in Billy Elliot the Musical. The actor rose to fame in 2016 when he landed the role of Spiderman and went on to play the role in sic Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films. The following year Holland won the BAFTA Rising Star Award and became the youngest actor to play a title role in an MCU film in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Romeo and Juliet will run at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 11 May to 3 August 2024. Further casting is yet to be announced.

Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder! Comes to the West End

The murder-mystery comedy musical has announced a West End premiere in May this year.

Written by Matthew Floyd Jones and Jon Brittain the show follows two true crime podcasters who find themselves caught up in an actual whodunnit when their favourite author is murdered.

Initial casting for the production has already been announced and Bronte Barbé (Newsies) and Rebekah Hinds (Oklahoma!) are set to reprise their respective roles as Kathy and Stella. They will star alongside Imelda Warren-Green (Doctor Who: Time Fracture) who will once again play Erica. Further casting will be announced soon.

Kathy and Stella Solve a Murderwill open at the Ambassadors Theatre from 25 May to 14 September 2024.

Rehearsals are in Full Swing for MJ the Musical

The highly anticipated Broadway transfer of MJ the Musical opens next month and rehearsals for the show are going strong. The mega-hit musical takes place in the rehearsal room of the 1992 Dangerous World Tour and goes beyond the singular moves, singular glove, and signature sound of the star to offer a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Jackson to legendary status.

Cara Delevigne and Luke Treadaway to star in Cabaret


After winning a record-breaking 7 Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival, Cabaret tickets are proving to be the hottest tickets in London and they’re about to get even hotter!

It has been confirmed that Cara Delevigne and Luke Treadaway will be stepping into the lead roles of Emcee and Sally Bowles from 11th March 2024 for 12 weeks only. They take over from the show’s current stars Jake Shears and Rebecca Lucy Taylor.

Cara Delevigne is a model-turned-actress who has starred in things such as Paper Towns, Suicide Squad, Only Murders in the Building, and American Horror Story: Delicate.

Luke Treadaway is an Olivier award-winner in his own right for his portrayal of Christopher in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. He also has his fair share of TV and Film credits including Unbroken, Lockwood & Co, and The Serial Killer’s Wife.

Delevingne and Treadaway will join Michael Ahomka-Lindsay as Clifford Bradshaw, Beverley Klein as Fraulein Schneider, and Teddy Kempner as Herr Schultz. Nic Myers plays the role of Sally Bowles once a week.

Completing the company are Wilf Scolding as Ernst Ludwig, Jessica Kirton as Fraulein Kost/Fritzie, Liv Alexander as Texas, Natalie Chua as Frenchie, Taite-Elliot Drew as Hans, Damon Gould as Victor, El Haq Latief as Helga, Travis Ross as Bobby, Laura Delany as Rosie, Grant Neal as Herman/Max and Hicaro Nicolai as Lulu. The cast is completed by Rebecca Lisewski, Ela Lisondra, Nic Myers, Andy Rees, Toby Turpin and Patrick Wilden.

Cabaret has received the most amount of Olivier Awards for any musical revival in the history of the awards. Off the back of the West End production’s success, the show is set to open on Broadway in April this year with original cast member Eddie Redmayne.

The musical features an iconic musical score including songs such as Wilkommen, Mein Herr, May This Time, Money and of course the title number… Cabaret! The music is by John Kander with lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff.

Fawlty Towers is Coming to the West End This Spring

One of the nation’s favourite BBC sitcoms has been adapted for the stage and is coming to London in May!

Fawlty Towers first appeared on our screens 49 years ago and ran for only two series from 1975-1979. Despite its short stint the show has stood the test of time with many of the iconic lines from the show still quoted today. Fawlty Towers was known for its brilliantly clever writing, sharp wit and John Cleese’s unmatched comic timing. John Cleese’s character of Basil Fawlty has become an iconic figure in British pop culture with his sarcastic comments, short temper and inability to run his own hotel. The beloved TV show is still just as adored by fans because of its memorable characters and unique humour so a stage adaptation is just what the nation needs!

Fawlty Towers the play has been adapted for the stage by Cleese himself and will be directed by Caroline Jay Ranger who previously directed Only Fools and Horses: The Musical.

The 2-hour long play incorporates three episodes from the original TV series – The Hotel Inspector, The Germans and Communication Problems into one coherent story-line.

The full casting for the show has already been announced. Leading the cast is Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, Hemi Yeroham as Manuel and Victoria Fox as Polly, alongside Paul Nicholas (as The Major), Rachel Izen (as Mrs Richards), Steven Meo as Mr Hutchinson/German guest, Kate Russell-Smith as Miss Tibbs, Nicola Sanderson as Miss Gatsby, Greg Haiste as Mr Thurston/German guest, Danny Bayne as Mr Walt/Dr Finn, Neil Stuart as Taxi Driver/Mr Firkins/Mr Kerr/Mr Sharp, and Emma Fenney as German guest.

Completing the company are Mia Austen, John Hasler, Dale Superville, Ben Jacobson and Suzy Bloom.

Mrs. Doubtfire Extends West End Run to 2025

This year marks the 30-year anniversary since the original film was released and now the musical Mrs. Doubtfire has announced that it is extending its run until 2025!

Mrs. Doubtfire is now booking until 16th February 2025.

Based on the much-loved film that starred Robin Williams, the musical stays very close to the original movie script and features all of the classic lines that fans know and love.

Mrs. Doubtfire tells the story of out-of-work actor Daniel who will do anything for his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce he creates the alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire, in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As his new character begins to take on a personality of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father.

Back to the Future: The Musical celebrated its 1000th performance in the West End last night and is booking until December 2024.

The musical is based on the 1985 film and opened in London back in 2021. Back to the Future follows the story of Marty McFly, a rock ‘n’ roll teenager who is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-travelling DeLorean invented by Dr Emmett Brown. Before he can safely travel back to his time, he must make sure his teenage parents fall in love to save his own existence. Can he fix the present, escape the past and send himself… back to the future.

Back to the Future: The Musical features a book by Bob Gale and music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy winner Glen Ballard. The musical also includes additional songs from the film such as ‘The Power of Love’ and ‘Johnny B. Goode’.

The original movie the musical is based on and its two sequels were huge box office successes, taking in over $936 million at the box office. Workshops for the musical originally took place in London in the July of 2014 and then the following month in Los Angeles. The intention was to open the show in the West End in 2015, aligning with the 30th anniversary of the film. However, there was a delay in production and the show began previews in Manchester on 20th February 2020. The production played at the Manchester Opera House, directed by John Rando with choreography by Chris Bailey. Only a few days after the show’s official opening the show closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Back to the Future then transferred to the West End’s Adelphi Theatre in September 2021 with the same cast and creative team. The production was nominated for 7 Olivier Awards that year, including ‘Best New Musical’, which it went on to win. The musical then opened on Broadway in June 2023.

Back to the Future is the perfect musical for all the family to enjoy with brilliant special effects, catchy tunes and colourful costumes. When this baby hits 88mph you’re going to see some serious… entertainment.

Frozen Announces West End Closure


We are absolutely devastated to ‘Let It Go’ but Frozen has announced a final extension and then plans to close later this year. The Disney musical has been playing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane since Summer 2021 and is set to close its doors on 8th September 2024.

The musical is adapted from the Oscar winning animated Disney film and following on from the screenplays success Frozen has also taken the West End by storm (no pun intended).

Frozen follows the story of Queen Elsa who can no longer control her special powers and plunges the land of Arendelle into an eternal winter. She then flees the kingdom in order to avoid causing any more damage. Her sister Anna goes on a mission to find Elsa and bring her back to save the kingdom. But is it too late? The sisters learn that only an act of true love can melt a frozen heart.

In 2022 Frozen managed to win 7 WhatsOnStage awards including ‘Best Direction’, ‘Best Choreography’, ‘Best Set Design’ and ‘Best Costume Design’. We’re not surprised after seeing that dress transformation!!

The show features all of the much-loved songs from the film such as ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’, ‘Love is an Open Door’ and the iconic ‘Let It Go’. The Oscar winning team behind the music of Frozen, Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez also wrote 12 new songs for the stage show.

The current cast of Frozen currently includes Jenna Lee-James as Elsa (Maternity cover), Laura Dawkes as Anna, Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff, Craig Sullivan as Olaf, Oliver Ormson as Hana, Richard Frame as Duke of Weselton and Mikayla Jade and Ashley Birchall as Sven. Samantha Barks is set to return to the role of Elsa on 28th January 2024 following on from her maternity leave.

The ground-breaking production of The Picture of Dorian Gray returns to London next month starring Golden Globe winner Sarah Snook.

This witty and contemporary version of Oscar Wilde’s classic tale is adapted and directed by multi-award-winning Director Kip Williams. The Picture of Dorian Gray uses interplay of live performance and video to create this astonishing production.

The Picture of Dorian Gray will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 6th February 2024 for a strictly limited 14-week run

After taking home the award for ‘Best New Musical’ at the Olivier Awards last year, Standing at the Sky’s Edge is transferring to the West End next month.

Co-produced by the National Theatre and Sheffield Theatres, Standing at the Sky’s Edge has been hailed as a ‘love letter to Sheffield’. The musical follows the story of three generations set over the course of six decades and navigating universal themes of love, loss and survival. With a soundtrack by singer-songwriter Richard Hawley and a beautiful book by Chris Bush, this new musical is not to be missed.

Standing at the Sky’s Edge opens at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 8th February.

Hadestown

Following its hugely successful run at the National Theatre in 2018, Hadestown went on to win 8 Tony Awards after becoming a huge hit on Broadway and the musical is returning to London in February.

The Merchent of Venice

The Telegraph is calling it ‘The year’s most important Shakespeare production’. The Merchant of Venice 1936 opens in February starring Tracy-Ann Oberman as Shylock.

The Merchant of Venice theatre tickets are on sale now.

This timely reimagining of one of the bard’s greatest comedies is directed by Brigid Larmour and this version of the play will be set in 1936 London as is set to be a huge hit.

The Merchant of Venice opens at the Criterion Theatre on 15th February and will run until 23rd March 2024.

The King and I Opens in the West End


The King and I

The iconic Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical The King & I returns to the West End!

Starring Helen George and Darren Lee, The King and I is known as one of the greatest musicals from the golden age of musicals. The musical features one of the finest scores ever written including songs such as ‘Whistle a Happy Tune’, ‘Getting to Know You’ and ‘Shall We Dance’. This version of the show features a company of over 50 performers alongside a full-scale orchestra.

The King and I is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher who has previously directed Broadways hits like South Pacific and My Fair Lady. The show is set to be a gloriously lavish production with a world-class company of West End and Broadway performers and musicians.

The musical follows the story of Anna, a widowed British schoolteacher who is hired by the King of Siam to help modernise the country. The King struggles at first with his new governess and is thrown by Anna’s blunt attitude. Eventually they build a strong relationship a forge a connection between East and West.

The King and I first opened on Broadway over 65 years ago and after two years it transferred to the West End where it played at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The it was adapted into a film with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr two years later.

In this production Anna will be played by Helen George who is best known for her role as Trixie in the BBC One series Call the Midwife. She will be joined by Broadway star Darren Lee as The King. With set design by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber and orchestrations by Robert Russell Bennett, this production of the King and I is set to be one of the most beautifully romantic performances you will see this year. 

The King and I opens on 20th January 2024 at the Dominion Theatre where it will run until 2nd March 2024. Make sure to secure your King and I theatre tickets and book now!
